You will be featured our collector's edition program; therefore we will need a head shot and a short resume as well as several of your titles, World or National placements mainly will be listed). The highest priority will be given to the titles or placements that qualified you to be invited to this competition. Please list all placements in this year’s National or World Championships in Solo, Two Baton, Strut and Rhythmic/ Freestyle. Please fill out the invitee questionnaire/entry form (Link Below) and send us a headshot (to Please return the headshots and the questionnaire /entry form along with the $75 entry fee or any ads that you will be using to replace the entry fee, no later than January 21st. All three of the following airports are approximately the same distance from the weekend’s activities. (BWI – Baltimore/Washington International, DCA – Reagan National or Dulles International – IAD). They are all approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours from the contest and hotel. The Finals on Sunday may not be over until 4:30 p.m., so please try to make your departing flights after 7:00 pm or later. Unfortunately, there are no shuttles from any of the airports.  Congressional Cup Headquarters is at the Aspire Hotel (2634-A Emmitsburg Road, Gettysburg, PA).

The Reception for the Congressional Cup Invitational will be held at the Aspire Hotel located in the same building as the historic Eisenhower Hotel. Friday evening, the 17th, there will be a reception for all the Invitees at 8:30 p.m. It includes a short meeting and a really nice, social “get together. “At this time, there will be introductions, tank tops will be distributed and the athletes will draw for position. If you are unable to attend, your position will be drawn for you. The dress for this is dressy/casual. Please no practice clothes. We will be taking group photos during a fun photo shoot!

Doors Open at 7:00am and Contest starts promptly at 8:00am.. This open competition is affiliated with NBTA and therefore NBTA judges and rules will be used, although 2 judges will be used for the Elite Solo prelims and finals (one NBTA and one USTA or CBTF). There will be a concession made for time limits and salutes for those competitors who are not NBTA. The solo time limit will be 1:44 -2:30, Rhythmic/Freestyle will be 2:00 – 2:30 and two-baton will be 1:29 – 2:00. A salute is not required. Gymnastics is not allowed except in Freestyle/Rhythmic Twirl. Using gymnastic moves will result in disqualification in any other events. This competition will start at 8:00 a.m. The contest begins with Best Appearing and X-Strut before any solo or multiple baton events. I would like to encourage the invitational competitors to compete in the open contest. Last year’s event had incredible competition in all advanced and Elite age divisions.

Saturday, March 18th and Sunday, March 19th 2017
The preliminary solo and the two baton rounds will be held immediately following the completion of the Open tournament competition on Saturday and will alternate with the Freestyle/Rhythmic portion of the Advanced All-Round contestants. The Invitational preliminary freestyle//rhythmic round will be at 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning and invitees will alternate with the team competition. Immediately following the completion of the preliminary freestyle round, we will be taking the official pictures and rehearse the opening of the show. All invitees and other title holders who are present at the invitational will be introduced in the opening of the show. Please be in costume for these pictures.

The finals on Sunday will start between 2:00 and 2:30 p.m. and end around 4:30 or 5:00 p.m., It will include the five Women’s finalists, the Men’s Invitational finalists and other performances. The opening of the show will include the honoring and introductions of all the competitors and judges. It is asked that you be dressed in warm ups. Scoring - Throughout the preliminaries the judges will use their own organization’s score sheets and a placement point system will be used. Placement points from the judges will be combined for each competitor to come up with event placements (the lowest number of placement points being the winner. Final placement points will then be assigned for each event. Final placement in the All Around Preliminary competition will be determined by adding final event placement points for all three events. The Finals panel will consist of six judges. (2 NBTA and 2 WBTF). The judges will be flashing a score within seconds (with the exception of the freestyle round). Placement points will again determine the winner. Gymnastics will be allowed in Free Style only. The penalty for executing a gymnastic move in solo or two baton will be the automatic assignment of last place with “Events” points for that event.
